Our Vision
Abaco Strong is proud to partner with GTC Community Connections. Green Turtle Cay (GTC) Community Connections is committed to creating a vibrant, unified community that thrives through education, environmental stewardship, and collective rebuilding efforts. GTC Community Connections’ mission is to empower future generations, restore the environment, and bring meaningful change to the lives of residents on Green Turtle Cay. Together, with the support of our volunteers and donors, GTC Community Connections strives to nurture an island community that is resilient and connected.
Cooking
Our cooking class, led by Chef Cheynea Levarity, introduces students to global cuisines, blending cooking skills with cultural exploration. Students cook recipes from various countries expanding their palates along with developing a lasting appreciation for diversity.
Gardening
Our gardening program is led by John Ferry with support from Robert and Trina Sassine. Students engage in hands-on activities, from planting seeds through harvesting and selling crops, learning responsibility, sustainability, and environmental stewardship.
Science
Led by Taylor Sawyer, our fun and engaging science sessions immerse students in hands-on experiments focused on the local environment and species. These activities spark curiosity, promote critical thinking, and build a foundation for STEM learning.
Health and Wellness
Led by Nurse Sandricka Hudson, the Health and Wellness program emphasizes the importance of both physical and mental well-being, providing a safe space for children to ask questions and learn about healthy habits.
Reading Program
Our PreK to 2nd grade reading program, led by Natasha Curry, is designed to help little ones fall in love with books while learning important reading skills.
High School Tutoring
Our Math Tutor program, led by Karen Fifer Ferry and her tutor team – both on island and virtual – assists students in grades 7–12 master math, writing, and prep for those all-important BJC and BGCSE exams through engaging, interactive sessions.
Trusted Turtles
Led by Logan Kanan, Trusted Turtles’ goals provide the knowledge and experiences to understand, respect, and love our aquatic backyard and all of its inhabitants. Students learn snorkeling, sailing, and nature photography along with obtaining their SCUBA certification in order to further explore the underwater world.

Big Mike Levarity Community Center
We are in the beginning stages of constructing a new community center that will serve as the heart of our operations, providing space for community events, educational programs, and cultural activities.
