Abaco Strong Announces New Leadership

December 20, 2024

The Liquid Legacy and Abaco Strong are excited to announce that starting January 1, 2025, Abaco Strong will be joining The Liquid Legacy family. While maintaining its autonomy, Abaco Strong will continue to operate as an independent organization, however this strategic partnership brings together two mission-driven organizations to amplify their shared commitment to building resilient, healthy, and sustainable communities.

Founded in the wake of Hurricane Dorian in 2019, Abaco Strong has been instrumental in the rebuilding efforts across the Abaco islands, providing essential resources to foster sustainable and prosperous communities. The Liquid Legacy was founded in 2018 and has been steadfast in its commitment to providing safe drinking water, medical missions, and community development in Peru and The Bahamas. By joining forces with The Liquid Legacy, Abaco Strong will gain access to a broader array of resources, enhanced infrastructure, and a global network of support, all geared towards driving meaningful change.

Peet Strydom – the founder of The Liquid Legacy – will assume the role of President and Executive Director of Abaco Strong. Peet brings a wealth of experience and a deep passion for community development to this leadership role. While leading Abaco Strong, Peet will also continue to oversee The Liquid Legacy’s operations, ensuring seamless integration and growth of both organizations.

“This is an exciting opportunity to combine our strengths and achieve greater impact,” said Peet. “Abaco Strong’s dedication to rebuilding communities perfectly complements The Liquid Legacy’s focus on sustainable community development. Together, we are positioned to empower even more individuals and communities to thrive.” Peet also added, “As we look to the future with Abaco Strong, we have to recognize that none of this would be possible without the hard work, dedication, and leadership of John and Martha Fleury – its founders. We hope to honor John’s memory and Martha’s commitment to Abaco Strong, as well as the people of Abaco, through our ongoing service in the community.”

The two organizations will continue to prioritize their core areas of focus: The Liquid Legacy remains committed to safe drinking water projects, medical missions, and community development; Abaco Strong will remain committed to the building of prosperous, sustainable, and environmentally responsible communities in Abaco.

Supporters, partners, and community members are invited to join The Liquid Legacy and Abaco Strong in celebrating this exciting new chapter. Together, we will build a stronger foundation for a more hopeful and sustainable future.
